Yes, it's very important for the water to be at a boil...I should have mentioned that :( In a small 1 cup Pyrex, my water actually reaches a boil in the microwave at 3 minutes. Thank you for pointing out this most important step....I will fix my post! Have a beautiful weekend :)ReluctantYankeehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06211924283512961374noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36827957.post-53884523005290443462010-06-27T07:39:06.082-07:002010-06-27T07:39:06.082-07:00Another recipe: 4 cups of water, 1 cup of sugar. ...Another recipe: 4 cups of water, 1 cup of sugar. Bring to a boil on the stove, then shut it off. It needs to actually boil, rather than just getting really hot and the sugar all dissolving. The boiling helps retard bacterial growth once it's in the feeder. I have a special glass pitcher I keep the sugar water in in the frig. If I had to make it every day, I'd go a little crazy. This way I only have to make it once a week or so. It really depends on much the other birds are eating it. I am forever telling them they are NOT hummingbirds, but the continue to eat anyway. Oh, well, I guess they need it.Tamerie Shriver Hallidayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05520049303830446498noreply@blogger.com
